Leona LaurenLeona Louise Lewis (born 3 April 1985) is a British performer, songwriter as well as an actress and activist. Born within the London Borough of Islington, she studied at The BRIT School for Performing Arts and Technology located in Croydon. Lewis has been able to garner international attention after winning The X-Factor's third series in the year 2006. In addition, she received the PS1 Million recording contract from Syco Music. The Kelly Clarkson cover"A Moment Like This" was her prize. The song racked up 50,000 digital downloads within less than 30 minutes, and peaked at Number One for 4 weeks. In February 2007, Lewis was signed to a contract for five albums with the United States with Clive Davis's record label J Records. Lewis kept her momentum going by releasing Spirit Her first studio album. The album was platinum 10x accredited in the UK. It became the fourth-most popular album of the 2000, and was also one of the best-selling UK albums. Spirit According to Official Charts Company is the greatest-selling debut album by a female singer. Its first single, "Bleeding Love", went on to chart for seven weeks in the UK. 1 in the UK and was the most-sold single in 2007. The track was the highest-seller of 2008, as well. Lewis was awarded the Billboard Award for the Most Popular New Artist. In 2009, she debuted her second studio album Echo and also recorded the theme track, "I See You", for the film Avatar. Lewis was also the first to release "Collide," a joint effort along with Swedish DJ Avicii. The year 2011 saw her also dropped Hurt, the extended play of her debut EP. Her third studio album, Glassheart (2012), represented a fresh direction in music for Lewis who draws on dubstep and electronic music. During her Glassheart Tour in 2013, she started recording music to her Christmas debut album. Christmas, With Love was released later in the year and its lead single, "One More Sleep" came in at the third position within the UK. It led to Lewis her the only British single female singer to make it to the top fivespot, with eight songs. Also, she broke Olivia Newton-John's seven record.
